Westworld Gets Return Date in Eerie Season Two Super Bowl Spot
Image via HBO/YouTubeThe train back to Westworld is leaving the station. HBO’s prestige sci-fi drama received a season two teaser during Sunday night’s Super Bowl, as well as an April premiere date.
The teaser, set to a cover of Kanye West’s “Runaway” by Westworld composer Ramin Djawadi, was directed by none other than series co-creator Jonathan Nolan.
“We can save this world. We can burn it to the ground,” says Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores in the chilling clip, “and from the ashes, build a new world. Our world.”
Wood’s co-stars Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden and Angela Sarafyan also appear in the spot, which aired as a condensed version of the online cut above.
As announced earlier this week, HBO’s Westworld Super Bowl spot is the pay-cable channel’s first Super Bowl ad in 20 years. They certainly made it count.
Westworld’s first season was the most-watched of any HBO series. A full-on war between the park’s creators and creations is sure to attract many more eyeballs.
Westworld returns on April 22, 2018 at 9 p.m. EST on HBO. Watch the season two teaser above.
