X-Files Reboot May Answer Scully “Immortality” Fan Theory

Chris Carter, series creator, has teased that a fan theory based on an episode in the show’s third season would be addressed at the end of the highly anticipated miniseries.
The fan speculation was birthed from the Peter Boyle-starring episode “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose.” Boyle plays a man who has the ability to perceive how people will die. Viewers began to question Scully’s “ultimate endgame” after Boyle’s character states she doesn’t have one.
The theory was further fueled by two episodes in season six, the first of which is “Tithonus.” The story follows a crime scene investigator, unable to die after having looked away from death. Upon Scully being shot, the investigator instructs her to look away, and dies in her stead. The second episode, titled “Monday,” sees both Fox Mulder and Scully caught in a perpetual time loop that fans have speculated keeps resetting because Scully can’t die.
In his recent interview with The Huffington Post, Carter addressed the theory, stating, “It’s certainly been suggested, but I can tell you this: Stay tuned for episode six.”
