Jena Friedman and Eric Andre Are Going to Make Adult Swim’s Sunday Special in February

Adult Swim is looking to make your February more special, and what better way to make your February more special than with a special Sunday showcasing the debut of two specials?

The network is bringing two outstandingly absurd and dark minds of comedy to its airwaves on Feb. 18 with the premieres of Soft Focus with Jena Friedman and Eric Andre Does Paris.

Friedman, a former writer for The Late Show with David Letterman and field producer for The Daily Show, applies her keenly dark sense of humor to what is being called a “live-action human-interest program” where “sometimes the hard issues need a light touch.” Soft Focus aims to shed at least some light on stories “where fact and fiction blend in a harmonious union of what the f*ck.” The stand-up of American Cunt fame—one of Paste’s top stand-up specials of 2016—also serves as creator and executive producer, with Anu Valia directing.

Andre is no stranger to Adult Swim loyalists, and when he travels to Paris, France, there’s no telling in what state he or the city will be left. Eric Andre Does Paris sees the titular Andre travel to Paris to “ponder existential questions with French people.” We’re pretty sure that means a good mix of loud noises, pratfalls and outlandish character work. Paris won’t know what hit them, and nor will Andre. The special will be directed by Kitao Sakurai.

The special block of specials gets under way Feb. 18, starting with Soft Focus with Jena Friedman at midnight followed by Eric Andre Does Paris at 12:15 a.m. on Adult Swim.
