Watch an Exclusive Preview of Adult Swim’s New Show Ballmastrz: 9009

Ballmastrz: 9009, Adult Swim’s latest original series, premieres this weekend on Sunday, April 8, at Midnight ET/PT, and yes, we know what you’re thinking: what in the hell is a Ballmastr? Is Ballmastr even how you spell the singular form of Ballmastrz? Hell, is the word “Ballmastrz” even plural to begin with, or is that just our close-minded, antiquated predilection for grammar forcing us into an offensive and inaccurate reading of the word? Ballmastrz: 9009 has really got us thinking.

Thankfully Adult Swim has released this useful short video that begins to explain a little bit about the futuristic fantasy world of the Ballmastrz. It’s some kind of sport thing, played by aliens and young children, in what we can assume will be an absurd refraction of the ridiculous world we live in. You know, an Adult Swim show.

Another reason this is clearly an Adult Swim show, beyond the simple, irrefutable fact that it was commissioned and produced and will be broadcast by Adult Swim: it was created by Christy Karacas, one of the folks behind Superjail. And lining up behind lead actress Natasha Lyonne are a couple of Adult Swim lifers, Dana Snyder and Dave Willis. Snyder, of course, was the voice of Master Shake in Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Dave Willis is one of the Adult Swim founders who established the network’s identity almost two decades ago, creating shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Squidbillies. Yeah: this here is an Adult Swim show.

Don’t take our word for it, though. Watch this short introduction to the primary Ballmastrz of Ballmastrz to see just how much of an Adult Swim show this thing is going to be. If it seems like the kind of thing you’re into, tune in Sunday night at midnight (right after WrestleMania wraps up) to watch the premiere.
