Jameela Jamil Tagged as Host of TBS’ Misery Index

TBS announced on Thursday that The Good Place star Jameela Jamil will be hosting the network’s new show, Misery Index. The comedic game show is based on Sh*t Happens, the popular card game that tasks players with ranking life events from least to most terrible.

Jamil will pose questions to two teams, essentially moderating a game of “would you rather,” but with a twist. When asked, for instance, “Is getting a third-degree burn worse than seeing your father naked?” team members will use the Misery Index to rank how terrible the situations would be on a scale from 1-100.

Those teams will include the Tenderloins, better known as the hosts of truTV’s Impractical Jokers. Each episode, two Tenderloins will join one contestant to rank life’s most comically miserable events. Brian “Q” Quinn, James “Murr” Murray, Joe Gatto and Sal Vulcano will use their experience humiliating each other to guide guests on the show.

Jamil says in a statement, “As someone whose life is just a series of mortifying incidents strung together, it’s going to be brilliant to take a break from my own mishaps, and feast in the disasters of others. I cannot wait for the misery to commence. This show is brilliantly ridiculous.”
