MST3k Revival Officially Announces April Premiere on Netflix

Faithful MSTies finally received the news they’d been waiting for, late last night: Finally, a concrete date for when the new Mystery Science Theater 3000 revival would be coming to Netflix. Robot roll call is scheduled for April 14, 2017.

The news was spread by both Netflix and series creator Joel Hodgson, after wrapping up the Q&A for the show’s premiere episode screening in Los Angeles. It came with a cast photo from Netflix, which you can see above. Depicted are all the series new talent, along with the paternal Joel. Included are Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt as the new Mads, “Kinga Forrester” and “TV’s Son of TV’s Frank,” and the voices of the new bots, Hampton Yount, Baron Vaughn. Front and center is new series host Jonah Ray, who will be stepping into the center theater hotseat once filled by Joel and then by Michael J. Nelson.

The only information we haven’t explicitly received is whether the new series will arrive all at once, in typical Netflix fashion. Joel does say “when the new episodes premiere on Netflix” in reference to the April 14 date, though, which suggests this is indeed is the case. So buckle up, faithful MST3k fans. There are less than 2 months until an entire new season of your beloved show arrives.
