Last night Melissa McCarthy made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live as Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary best known for tanking his credibility on Day One and then also every day thereafter. McCarthy’s impression is an instant classic, right up there with Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin and Andy Samberg’s Mark Wahlberg. (Okay, that one wasn’t a political impression, but remember how good it was?). She beautifully captured Spicer’s worst qualities—his gum addiction, his reliance on props, his complete inability to tell the truth; the works!
