Sometimes life gives you lemons, other times it gives you a new episode of everyone’s favorite sketch comedy show that should’ve died years ago, Infinity War-style. Last night life gifted us the latter, which reached new heights of bizarre boringness with another interminably long, star-studded cold open. A seven-minute sketch about the FBI wiretapping Michael Cohen’s phone calls feature cameos by Ben Stiller as Cohen, Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump, Scarlett Johansson as Ivanka Trump, Jimmy Fallon as Jared Kushner and would you believe it, Stormy Daniels as Stormy Daniels. Does she make a pun about her own name? Yes she makes a pun about her own name. Does Jimmy Fallon look very uncomfortable? Yes he does look very uncomfortable. Does it all have the feel of a lazy ploy for clicks and buzz, like every other cold open that shafts SNL’s core ensemble in favor of cardboard performances by celebrities?
