Stephen Colbert Does His Best to Understand Donald Trump’s Meeting with Kanye West

Donald Trump taking time to meet with Kanye West, instead of having his daily intelligence briefings, sounds like a sick joke, but 2016 is nothing if not all the worst sick jokes brought to life, so that actually happened. On last night’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert did his best to understand Trump and Kanye’s meeting, as well as Trump’s baffling cabinet selections, or as Colbert called them, “A who’s who of ‘Why? What?’”

Colbert points out that, “Obviously a meeting like this is a security risk, gathering the two most powerful American narcissists in the same room,” and that “for security reasons,” Shia Labeouf had to be kept in an undisclosed location during the meeting. Colbert says that he “heard these two are going to drop an album together. It’s called The Deportation of Pablo.” Kanye is apparently up for whichever “government agency regulates diamond masks and trackpants.”

Colbert also spent some time during his monologue talking about Rex Tillerson, the ExxonMobil CEO who helped invent climate change, Rick Perry being put in charge of the department that he wanted to eliminate but couldn’t remember, the white supremacists getting mad about being compared to the bad guys in Star Wars, and a goofy diamond ring commercial. Watch the video in full above, and find a whole mess of funny tweets about the Donye meeting here.
