Rifftrax has released a trailer for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 reunion, which is occurring on June 28 in Minneapolis. Alas, you’re out of luck if you wanted to attend it in person. But wait! It’s being simulcast live to hundreds of theaters across this great, MST3k reunion-hungry nation. There will also be an encore showing of the event in various theaters on July 12.
Rifftrax Live: MST3k Reunion, as it’s being called, will reunite cast members Kevin Murphy, Trace Beaulieu, Bridget Nelson and show creator Joel Hodgson, among others. Jonah Ray, of Nerdist podcast fame, will be joining too. Ray is set to be the new host of the MST3k revival, which is happening (maybe sometime soon?) thanks to the contribution of a collective $5.5 million to a Kickstarter campaign. The reunion will call for traditional MST3k riffery on a variety of short films, and a press release adds that “the night culminates with a first-ever ‘Riffapalooza’ uniting the entire cast onstage to skewer a new never-before-riffed short film.”
