The main emoji from The Emoji Movie, TJ Miller, doesn’t think women are as funny as men.
Why?
“They’re taught to suppress their sense of humor during their formative years.”
Oh. Um, okay.
Following the release of the New York Magazine article with the above quote, Miller jumped on a lil’ Tweet train to let us know that HE DOESN’T THINK WOMEN AREN’T FUNNY. WOMEN ARE FUNNY, DAMN IT. YOU GUYS ARE JUST TOO DUMB TO GET WHAT I MEANT.
Okay, I guess everyone and their parents missed the point—#feminist
SOCIETY depresses humor in women bc it is a sign of intelligence.— t.j. miller (@nottjmiller) July 24, 2017
Don’t get it twisted. The world gets better the more we empower our literal better half.
Women ARE FUNNY, against odds that men don’t face.

Choo choo, dude!
As a lady, I understand (as best my little woman brain can!) where you, T.J., are coming from. There’s a stigma against being “the funny girl.” Just ask Lucy Dacus. Being funny and/or smart isn’t nearly as fun as being hot. Haven’t you seen Scooby Doo? All girls want to be Daphne. Velma sucks.
…Sigh.
Luckily, there are many women out there who have shattered the glass ceiling on that archaic notion. Comedy today is full of beautiful, talented, HILARIOUS women who make it cool to be funny, regardless of the nonsense of the past. These women are a breath of fresh air in a male-dominated industry.
Here are 25 ladies (in .gif form!) killing the comedy game who might even be funnier than you, T.J.
