Finally We See the Real Jessica Jones in Netflix’s First Trailer

In the first trailer released for the upcoming Netflix Marvel series, Jessica Jones has a troubled past and an even more unsettling present. After a couple splashy but nondescript teasers for Jessica Jones, the second Marvel installment to be a Netflix original series after the successful Daredevil, Netflix finally gave us a full preview of the extent of Jones’ power.

Jones is a former D-list Marvel avenger, known as Jewel, working as a private investigator because “booze costs money,” according to the trailer. Jones is miserable, at rock bottom, vulnerable and, worst of all, haunted by the mind control of a past oppressor.

The storyline is based on the comic book Alias, which utilizes the same drab and sunken color scheme and tone as the series appears to adopt in the trailer. The comic is dark, suspenseful, sexy and heartbreaking; hopefully Jessica Jones will do the comic book justice in the live action portrayal.

The first episode of Jessica Jones premiered at New York Comic Con earlier this month, and the first season will be available on Netflix on Nov. 20.
