The World’s Oldest Manga Has Been Adapted Into An Animated Short

Studio Ghibli, the Japanese animation film studio based in Tokyo, Japan well known for its anime feature films, has released a 30-second television spot based on a 12th-century picture scroll considered the earliest records of Japanese manga.

Adapted from the Choju Jinbutsu Giga, this animated commercial focuses on the ecological issues currently harming the modern world that people have forgotten about. The black and white spot was originally commissioned by Japanese energy company Marubeni Shin Denryoku.
