Maker Startup Goes Behind the Scenes of Product Design

Design News Behind The Scenes

A product without a story is like the dialogue in Baywatch: it exists, but no one’s paying attention to it.

San Francisco based startup Maker understands that caring about a brand requires emotional investment. CEO and Founder Bahnu Sharma wants to build a platform that helps “makers,” or creative folks dedicated to a craft, get discovered and distribute their work as far as possible. To this end, the Maker website features behind-the-scenes photos and interviews with Kitchenaid, Erik Spiekermann’s Galerie P98a, and Navdy, among others. The stories endear consumers to the people behind products that they might have otherwise overlooked.
