How To Drink a Martini Like Arnold Palmer
Next time you pick up a bottle of Ketel One, you might notice a new face on the bottle: Arnold Palmer.
The professional golfer passed away last September. To honor him, Ketel One made a limited-edition Ketel One bottle with Palmer’s photo, as well as a special message: “Dear Mr. Palmer, This one’s for you.”
While you might not immediately see the connection between Palmer and Ketel One, Palmer was a longtime friend of the Nolet Family, the creators of the vodka. He once told Nolet Carl Jr. that he often enjoyed the spirit after playing a game.
“Mr. Palmer stood for the same things we stand for as a family: authenticity, integrity and generosity. He set a high standard by making golf what it is today – but it was his accomplishments off the course that truly made him one of a kind.” Carl Jr. said in a statement.
In addition to the bottle, Ketel One is also donating $100k to Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation, a favorite of Palmer’s, which provides support to institutions and organizations benefitting the environment and local communities.
If you’d like to raise a glass to Arnold Palmer yourself, Ketel One passed along the recipe for his signature cocktail: a simple vodka martini with a lemon twist. He often enjoyed this one after a round of golf, calling it his signature “19th hole.”
