Prince Charles’ Aston Martin Runs on Wine
Sure, you’ve heard of cars that run on electricity to help save the environment, but how about wine?
Prince Charles’ Aston Martin Volante reportedly runs on “a crisp white wine.” Charles has driven the car since he was 21, and asked Aston Martin engineers to find something more environmentally friendly for the vehicle to run on than fossil fuels. Their solution: wine.
After making the switch to a booze-powered vehicle Charles says that his car “runs better and is more powerful on that fuel than it is on petrol,” The Telegraph reports.
Even better, Charles says “It smells delicious as you’re driving along.”
The vehicle doesn’t run entirely on just wine. Instead it uses a mixture of whey and supraus English white wine.
The royal family’s train also runs on something a bit unexpected, but more conventional: cooking oil. The Prince reportedly had to fight engineers to make the switch, but once they did they found the fuel works rather well.
