Annual Fighting Game Tournament Evo 2016 Will Be Largest Ever, With Over 14,000 Competitors
Image via Wikipedia, CapcomEvo (Evolution Championship Series) 2016 has over 14,000 competitors registered to compete across nine fighting games, Evo founder Joey Cuellar announced today. Evo was already the largest fighting game tournament in the world, but it has now surpassed it’s own record by about about 4,000. The breakdown for competitors in which games is below, with Street Fighter V drawing an astounding 5,065 players.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U – 2,350
Super Smash Bros. Melee – 1,165
Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator – 903
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 – 770
Mortal Kombat X – 707
Tekken 7 – 543
Killer Instinct – 540
These numbers also aren’t even including attendees who aren’t competing. Evo 2016 will be held from July 15 – 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
