Halo 5 Is Getting a 4K Upgrade, Four Titles in Backwards Compatibility to Kick Off Summer Festivities

It’s time to once again finish the fight. Round off your summer with your favorite ass-kicking Spartans with new Halo backwards-compatible titles, 4K upgrades, new DLC, a whole lot of merch and live events.

Later this year, get ready to return to Halo 5: Guardians on Xbox One X. There aren’t too many details yet, but the Xbox One title will be receiving a free true 4K update with the forthcoming console in mind.

Not looking into getting an Xbox One X? There’s plenty for you to go back to, too. Dust off your shelves because Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary are all coming to backwards compatibility. To top it off, you’ll be able to fend off the Flood and Forerunners with your friends on Xbox One or Xbox 360. Every Halo add-on map will also be made free, so you and your pals won’t have any trouble getting into the thick of the fight.

RTS fans, there’s some for you, too. Halo Wars 2 is finishing up its season pass this August, but afterward, there’s more to look forward to. This fall, get your hands on the next round of DLC from the perspective of The Banished called Awakening the Nightmare. It adds a whole new multiplayer mode and the Flood are making a comeback.

What are games without merch? A whole new line of merch and collectibles are coming out this year, from the Halo Crate to new comics and figures. And if that isn’t enough, make sure to catch the 343 team for a meet and greet at RTX Austin, HCS Summer finals, DreamHack Atlanta, ChinaJoy and Gamescom.
