2K Announces NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 for Consoles, PC

2K is looking for basketball dominance in the video game industry. Today, the company announced that it will be publishing the sequel to NBA Playgrounds, last year’s spiritual successor of sorts, if not more cartoonish version of the classic basketball game NBA Streets. The sequel, dubbed NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, will arrive on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC this Fall.

Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts and the development branch of 2K Sports, had this to say about the collaboration between 2K and developer Sabar Interactive:

“The original NBA Playgrounds was a fantastic throwback to the glory days of arcade-action sports. The new NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 will step up this energy and attitude big time—with a bit of added NBA 2K flair—giving fans of both franchises an exciting new way to game with friends around the world.”

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 will add two new modes to the game—Season Mode and Playgrounds Championship ranked mode. According to 2K, other additions include “improved online matchmaking with dedicated servers, four-player online matches, three-point contests, new playgrounds, custom matches, and more!” With a roster of 200 playable characters to choose from, featuring current and retired NBA players, there seems to be a lot more content for streetball fans.

You can watch the trailer to NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 on the game’s website to see what new features it brings to the court.
