Where to Watch June’s Nintendo Direct

Hot on the heels of an already packed month of videogame announcements, Nintendo of America announced the date and time of its next Nintendo Direct. The showcase will stream live on June 18 at 7:00 A.M. PST/10:00 A.M. ET, and feature roughly 40 minutes worth of games currently scheduled to come out on the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Currently, the only first-party Switch titles with firm release dates this year are Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (June 27) and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (July 18). This certainly does not mean the latter half of 2024 will be lacking, however. Last year’s June Nintendo Direct brought the announcements of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario RPG and Detective Pikachu Returns, which all released later that year. It stands to reason that Nintendo will not leave fans wanting until 2025. A certainly welcome surprise would be Metroid Prime 4, a game that hasn’t been featured since E3 2017.

There are no certain bets when it comes to what third-party games Nintendo will feature in this Direct, though games like Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, The Plucky Squire and Hollow Knight: Silksong remain 2024 hopefuls that are sorely missing release dates. Hollow Knight fans would certainly love to know if their waiting will soon come to an end.

Nintendo has explicitly stated that no news of the Switch’s successor will be made during this presentation, echoing a statement made by company president Shuntaro Furukawa early last month. The highly anticipated follow-up console was demoed at Gamescom last year, showing off an upgraded version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Epic Games’ The Matrix Awakens. Nintendo plans to make an announcement about the Switch’s successor within the current fiscal year, but have not specified exactly when that announcement will come.

The Nintendo Direct will be available to watch live on Nintendo’s website, their YouTube channel or right here on Paste:
