Overwatch‘s Returning Holiday Events Has a Team of Meis Fighting a Yeti WinstonImages via Blizzard Games News Overwatch
With another big holiday season approaching, so does another Overwatch event. Just in time for Christmas, another winter holiday event is coming quite soon. The familiar 6v6 “Mei’s Snowball Offensive” will return (also playable on the Black Forest map), but it will be joined by the brand-new “Mei’s Yeti Hunt.”
The six-player boss fight mode will have players as five Meis pitted against a player-controlled Winston in Nepal Village. The Meis will hunt down the Yeti Winston as he tries to collect power-ups for his Primal Rage ability, with the Meis able to utilize ice traps and their usual ice walls to subdue Winston. It basically sounds like Evolve. “I know a lot of you are thinking ‘it sounds kind of silly and kind of ridiculous,’ and well, I’m here to tell you it absolutely is,” says game director Jeff Kaplan in a video (seen below). “But the point of some of these seasonal brawls are just to be fun to be fun and light and refreshing for a short period of time.”
New Legendary skins will also arrive, with Kaplan teasing specific ones for Hanzo, Junkrat and Roadhog. Old maps King’s Row and Hanamura will receive “seasonal passes,” or themed decorations for the holidays.
Winter Wonderland 2017 begins on Dec. 12. Get ready to open those loot boxes.
