Every Major Announcement From PlayStation’s September State Of Play
After a fairly up-and-down month for Sony, from the highs of Astro Bot to the lows of the PS5 Pro’s hefty price tag, the company’s latest State of Play livestream thankfully fell mostly in the former camp. We got quite a few new game reveals, some DLC announcements, and dates for upcoming releases.
Ghost of Yotei, Sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Announced
Sucker Punch is following up their 2020 open-world game Ghost of Tsushima with an indirect sequel, Ghost of Yotei. Set in 1603, hundreds of years after the previous entry, we’ll be taken to Hokkaido, a region that was primarily inhabited by the Ainu ethnic group at the time. Even speaking as someone who didn’t get into the first game, the art direction in this trailer here was quite attention-grabbing, and the new protagonist looked cool. The game is currently slated for 2025.
Alan Wake 2: The Lakehouse DLC Revealed
The next add-on for Alan Wake 2 was revealed, and it looks like we’ll be visiting a shadowy version of Control’s Oldest House. After its playful previous expansion, we’re quite excited to see how the latest addition turns out when it’s released in October.

Fear the Spotlight, the first release (or re-release in the case of the PC version) from Blumhouse Games, is coming out in October. It’s an old-school riffing, low-poly survival horror game set in a high school.
And, of course, that wasn’t all. Dynasty Warrior Origins, the first mainline entry in quite some time, got a January 17, 2025 release date. As for RPGs, the MMORPG ArcheAge Chronicles was revealed, the first two games in the Lunar series are being brought back with Lunar Remastered Collection, and Fantasian Neo Dimension, a new version of this diorama-utilizing title which is now free from Apple Arcade prison, got a December 5th release date.
We also saw gameplay trailers for Towers of Aghasba, a new building game launching in Early Access in November, as well as footage of the long-awaited Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The PSVR 2 isn’t quite dead yet, as we got a look at Hitman: World of Assassination VR and Metro Awakening VR. The beat ‘em up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge has some DLC on the way with new characters. And that’s pretty much it. Overall, it was a reasonably dense show with a couple of cool announcements as Sony gears up to make the hard pitch for the expensive PS5 Pro in the coming months.
