Rocket League Switch Port Features Mario and Metroid-Themed Cars

Psyonix’s car soccer game Rocket League was a massive hit when it, ahem, rocketed onto PC and PlayStation 4 two summers ago. The title’s easy-to-learn/hard-to-master gameplay makes it perfect for the portable Nintendo Switch hardware. While some Switch ports of other games have suffered from some issues (missing features, technical problems, etc.), Psyonix wants to show how the Switch version is getting the attention it deserves with some exclusive content.

Included in the Switch version of Rocket League for free are some cool Nintendo-themed cars. The “Mario NSR” and “Luigi NSR” Battle-Cars are designed after the world-famous Mario Brothers themselves, down to the overalls and bright yellow buttons. But that isn’t all, as the port also includes the “Samus’ Gunship” Battle-Car, based on the bounty hunter heroine’s spaceship. Along with these cars are Mario and Luigi hats, and rocket boost effects inspired by the Super Mario and Metroid games.

Rocket League for the Nintendo Switch will come out “Holiday 2017,” and will be cross-compatible online with the PC and Xbox One versions of the game. In the meantime, check out the fun little video above.
