Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn Launch Trailer Promises It Will Be “Better Than the Old One”

Shaq Fu has a reputation among videogame historians—a really poor one. Standing as one of the most disappointing, over-hyped fighting games of the 16-bit era, the game has been a punching bag for over 20 years.

That’s all about to change. Maybe.

Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn released its first trailer over the weekend and it makes one bold claim: It won’t suck like the last one.

The trailer pokes fun at the 1994 release’s failures while displaying updated graphics and gameplay that’s more comparable to a side-scrolling brawler than a fighting game. Few details are available at this time, but the tone of the trailer inspires a much-appreciated policy of leaning into the joke that the original game has become.

All we know for certain right now is that Shaq Diesel is back to “settle the score of ‘94” sometime in 2018. Check out the trailer above.
