Amazon Listing Hints at the Return of Splinter Cell

Ubisoft has not released a new Splinter Cell title since 2013, but a short-lived mistake might have revealed plans for the return of Sam Fisher. According to Gamesradar, a listing for “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 2018” popped up on Ubisoft’s official Amazon page. The listing was quickly removed, but not before a Reddit user captured the image for endless fan analysis and hype.

Details within the sparse listing revealed that an E3 2018 announcement of the next Splinter Cell is planned. The item model number labelled as “E3TomClancy’sSplinterCell2018_PC” hints at a possible reveal coming this summer, and reports that a new Assassin’s Creed game is not releasing in 2018 provide the perfect release window for the return of a former premiere Ubisoft franchise. While the listing only includes a reported PC release, it would be expected that a new Splinter Cell title would be released for consoles, as well.

Rumors of a new Splinter Cell have persisted since 2016 when there were reports of Sam Fisher’s original voice actor, Michael Ironside, being seen at Ubisoft’s Toronto studio. If a new title is indeed in the works, it would make sense for the company to bring back the acclaimed actor after the poor response to his role being recast for 2013’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Ubisoft is staying silent for now, but E3 is only a few months away, so fans won’t have to wait long to find out whether their hopes will be realized.
