Lords of the Fallen Dev Offers Release Date, New Trailer for The Surge

The Surge, a new sci-fi action-RPG from Deck 13, the German studio known for the Dark Souls-esque Lords of the Fallen, got a new trailer today that revealed a tight release window of May 2017.

The cinematic trailer shows protagonist Warren as he undergoes the painful procedure of having an exo-suit grafted to his body during his first day at the CREO corporation. According to the official description from the trailer’s YouTube page, Warren picked a bad time to start this new chapter of his career:

Freshly recruited as an augmented worker, Warren’s first day coincides with a catastrophic event deep inside CREO, during the routine surgical operation meant to graft, through flesh and bone, the exo-suit required for the company’s employees. This disastrous event marks the first in a series of brutal events, turning this first day at CREO into a hellish nightmare of robots gone haywire, crazed employees with fried cranial implants, and artificial intelligence all wanting Warren dead.

Players will have to target specific body parts of Warren’s crazed co-workers to take them down before salvaging their opponents’ suits to craft upgrades for the protagonist. For a better look at the combat and upgrade system, check out the lengthy gameplay trailer from Gamescom back in August.

If you’re curious about the hellish procedure Warren had to endure to get to the point presented in that slice of the game, take a look at today’s cinematic trailer below.
