Submarines Are Submerging into the Depths of World of Warships

There is something stuck in my Das Boot … oh, wow, it is a virtual submarine!

Calling all seadogs and commanders alike, virtual naval warfare is about to get even scarier. After more than a year of teases and rumors, Wargaming has confirmed in a tweet (as seen below) that they are working on implementing submarines into World of Warships on PC.

These underwater vessels born of steel and metal will be playable and will drastically change how battles are fought in World of Warships. Submarines will act as the game’s fifth class after the already implemented aircraft carriers, destroyers, cruisers and battleships. Implementing these unique machines of war into World of Warships has proved challenging for the time, but they seem to have found the right means to usher them into use for players with Artur Plociennik, executive producer of World of Warships, saying, in a press release, that “The uniqueness of submarines poses very interesting design challenges for our team, which we hope to be able to turn into novel new gameplay tactics for our players…”

One can only imagine how different it will be to take the fight underwater once submarines become playable and, for players in the World of Warships Supertest program, world war two submarines will soon be playable in a closed testing environment.

For more on submarines and their rich history in naval warfare, be sure to check out this video on the World of Warships YouTube channel that is about the Soviet K-21 submarine. Happy hunting (for the Red October).
