Bond 25 Explosion Leaves Stage Damaged and Crew Member Injured

During filming for what seems to be a more cursed movie than any Conjuring installment, another injury has been sustained on the set of Bond 25.

During a routine, controlled explosion at Pinewood Studios, the film’s stage was damaged and a crew member sustained minor injuries. The film addressed the accident via a statement on Twitter:

During the filming of a controlled explosion on the set of Bond 25 today at Pinewood Studios, damage was caused to the exterior of the 007 Stage. There were no injuries on set, however one crew member outside the stage has sustained a minor injury. pic.twitter.com/8O9tOgwMYK

The accident comes just a couple weeks after Bond himself, Daniel Craig, injured his ankle while filming a scene in Jamaica. The actor flew back to the United States for further medical treatment, resulting in the suspended production of the film.

Otherwise, the film has had a notoriously rocky production. Due to creative differences, original director Danny Boyle walked out on the film last August. The producers have since sought script rewrites from Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Cary Fukunaga (Maniac, , Beast of No Nation) has taken over directing for the still-untitled addition to the Bond franchise.

There’s no word yet on if the stage damage will further delay filming, but for now, Bond 25 is still set for release April 8, 2020. Most of the franchise’s recent regular cast members, including Ben Whishaw a Q, Lea Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, Ralph Fiennes as M and Naomie Harris as Miss Moneypenny, will return for the latest installment. Bohemian Rhapsody’s Rami Malek has been cast as the film’s villain.
