Christopher Nolan’s New International Espionage Film Receives Title, Cast Additions

Exciting news for Nolan fans: The acclaimed director’s forthcoming film has received its title and new cast additions.

Warner Bros. has announced that Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh are the latest to join the cast of the action epic, titled Tenet.

Also announced are the additions of French actress Clémence Poésy and Hindi cinema veteran Dimple Kapadia to the cast, which already includes an impressive roster of John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson. Sorry, ladies—no Harry Styles this time.

The follow-up to Nolan’s Oscar-nominated war drama Dunkirk, Tenet is an action epic set in the world of international espionage. Using both IMAX and 70mm film, Tenet is being filmed in seven countries.

Not much else was revealed of the film’s plot or premise, other than a now-deleted Production Weekly tweet from early March, which reported that the feature is being described as “a romantic thriller, North by Northwest in tone meets Inception.”

Seeing as Pattinson was “sworn to secrecy” as far as plot details are concerned, it seems unlikely that much more information will be revealed in the early stages of the film’s production.

A handful of the film’s cast was also revealed, with veteran Nolan collaborators Nathan Crowley, known for his production design work, and Hoyte van Hoytema, who served as cinematographer on Dunkirk and Interstellar, unsurprisingly among them. One exciting deviation from Nolan’s usual crew, however, is Oscar-winning Black Panther composer Ludwig Göransson, who will score Tenet in place of frequent Nolan collaborator Hans Zimmer.

Tenet has a tentative release date of July 17, 2020.
