Mark Ruffalo Is a Tenacious Attorney in Trailer for Todd Haynes’ Dark Waters

Focus Features has released the first trailer for legal thriller Dark Waters, starring Mark Ruffalo, Anne Hathaway and Tim Robbins.

Inspired by a shocking true story—an adaptation of Nathaniel Rich’s 2016 article “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare”—Ruffalo plays a tenacious attorney who uncovers a dark secret that connects a growing number of unexplained deaths due to one of the world’s largest corporations. In the process, he risks everything—including his future, his family and his own life—to expose the truth.

All indications are that director Todd Haynes, and writers Matthew Michael Carnahan and Mario Correa have created a dark and suspenseful film, slated for a limited release on Nov. 22 and expanding on Nov. 29. Bill Camp, Victor Garber, Mare Winningham, William Jackson Harper and Bill Pullman also star.
