Dwayne Johnson to Star in Disney’s Jungle Cruise

Furthering his goal of being in literally every movie, Dwayne Johnson has signed on to produce and star in Disney’s film Jungle Cruise which, yes, is based on the Disneyland ride by the same name.

Despite Johnson already having committed to a million different projects, production is set to start on the film in spring of next year. Seriously, take a look at this guy’s iMDB page:

Of course, if you take away films that are only announced or rumored, his schedule looks a little more free, though you know at least a handful more of Dwayne Johnson-starring projects will be announced before then.

No details have been released about Jungle Cruise’s story, though we know screenwriters J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay wrote the most recent draft of the script. The ride itself takes park-goers through the Congo, Nile and Amazon, and it isn’t exactly narrative-heavy, so one supposes things are really up to the writers’ imaginations on this one.

You can next catch Johnson in The Fate of the Furious later this month, followed by Baywatch in May. Statistically, you’re going to see one, if not both of those movies.
