Star-Studded Sci-Fi Thriller Hotel Artemis to Receive Wide Release

Hotel Artemis, the secretive yet highly anticipated science-fiction thriller, has just been picked up for U.S. distribution by Global Road Entertainment, ensuring that it will receive a wide release, and hopefully soon. The film features an impressive and diverse cast, led by two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster. Sterling K. Brown, Jeff Goldblum, Sofia Boutella (who made headlines in Star Trek Beyond and Atomic Blonde), Brian Tyree Henry (of Atlanta fame), Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, Dave Bautista and Jenny Slate round out the rest of the cast.

The film, according to Deadline, is set in a war-torn futuristic Los Angeles and centers on a nurse (Foster) who runs an exclusive, members-only emergency room for criminals. It’s been described by first-time director Drew Pearce, best known for writing Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Iron Man 3, as a “kinetic, stylish action-thriller.”

Newly developed Global Road Entertainment, which was formed by Tang Media Partners’ merger of Open Road Films and international sales agent IM Global, just made its debut at the Berlin International Film Festival this year. The company plans to begin developing and distributing a wide range of films, from franchises to festival hits. Open Road Films was the distributor of the 2015 Oscar-winning film Spotlight, among other indie sensations like Dope and Nightcrawler.

Hotel Artemis currently sits in post-production and is awaiting a yet-undisclosed release date, but hopefully Global Road will release the film by the end of the year.
