Alamo Drafthouse Locations Around the U.S. Will Host Creepy “Clowns Only” Screenings for It Chapter 2
Movies News it chapter 2Behold, the ultimate coulrophobia gauntlet: An entire theater full of clowns, watching a screening of It Chapter 2. That’s some high-octane nightmare fuel, right there, and it’s exactly what Alamo Drafthouse locations throughout the U.S. are planning to deliver for their premiers of director Andy Muschietti’s hotly anticipated sequel.
The Austin-based independent theater chain is known for its popular themed movie nights, but typically the promotions aren’t quite this visually disorienting. During the release of the first It movie in 2017, the chain hosted a “clowns only” event at its original Austin location, but it would seem the success of that event has now inspired the clown-mania to go wide. This time around, the events will be hosted at Drafthouse locations all around the U.S. The only requirement for attendance to the premiere events is that visitors must be dressed in full-on clown regalia. Despite that requirement, we have a feeling that tickets will probably be selling like hotcakes. You can find tickets to a screening here.
Muschietti’s It Chapter 2 hits theaters on Sept. 7, 2019, although some of the Alamo events are a day earlier. Check out the full list of participating venues here, and then watch the final trailer for Chapter 2 below.
