Paranoia Reigns in the Final, Thrilling Trailer for It Comes at Night

The final trailer for It Comes at Night is now released. The psychological thriller is the latest from acclaimed director Trey Edward Shults, whose 2015 directorial debut Krisha received a 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the film, one family has made the best out of a vague apocalyptic world ravaged by disease. Earlier trailers show Joel Edgerton (The Gift) as the patriarch of a remote woods-dwelling group who have their routine down to a pat—only venture out in groups, always keep the one door leading out of the house locked and never go out at night. It isn’t until a new family arrives seeking shelter that paranoia starts to grip these characters.

The latest trailer is a bit unconventional, splicing scenes of rising dread brought on by cabin fever with speculations on paranoia and love that are central to the characters’ understanding if they want to survive. While this trailer will definitely make you jump, Shults has advertised the film as an atypical horror work that pulls more on a build up of dread in the same vein of It Follows and The Witch.
