James Franco to Star in Film Based on X-Men Character Multiple Man

If you already thought having one James Franco around was enough, the following news may disturb you. Per Deadline, the actor is set to star in a movie about X-Men character Multiple Man, with the project being produced by Fox and X-Men series producer Simon Kinberg, and written by Wonder Woman screenwriter Allan Heinberg.

Kinberg’s Genre Films and Franco’s own production company Ramona Films (which he runs with his brother Dave Franco and Vincent Jolivette) are also attached to the film. Multiple Man, civilian name Jamie Madrox, has the ability to multiply and clone himself at will. The character was previously seen in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand in a fairly minor role played by Eric Dane (The Last Ship). Franco and Kinberg have also been collaborating on The Hardy Men, an updated take on the teenage mystery novel series The Hardy Boys that would star James and Dave Franco.

Viewers of The Deuce are used to multiple James Francos at this point, with the actor portraying twin brothers—decent practice for the part of Madrox. Meanwhile, The Disaster Artist, directed by and starring James Franco, co-starring Dave Franco and the first production from Ramona, will release on Dec. 8—find its latest trailer here. Kinberg’s directorial debut will be X-Men: Dark Phoenix, coming out Nov. 2, 2018.
