The Plot Thickens in Intriguing New Trailer for Rian Johnson Whodunnit Knives Out

Writer-director Rian Johnson’s star-studded and already-acclaimed modern-day murder mystery Knives Out, coming this Thanksgiving, is shaping up to be one of 2019’s most fun moviegoing experiences, further evidence of which arrived Wednesday in the form of the film’s latest trailer.

Where the Agatha Christie-indebted thriller’s stylish first trailer simply established its time-tested premise—there’s been a murder, and everyone’s a suspect—and clever flair, today’s puts the victim himself under the magnifying glass, digging deeper into his character, as well as those in his circle who may have wanted him dead. Per the film’s synopsis:

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.

Starring alongside Plummer and Craig are some of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood today, including Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell and more. Together, they make up the shadiest, most eccentric ensemble this side of Clue.

We can only imagine how much fun Johnson had assembling his Star Wars: The Last Jedi follow-up, and critics are having a blast with Knives Out, as well—early reviews have the film sitting pretty with a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Knives Out is out on Nov. 27. Watch the film’s latest trailer below.
