Netflix Will Exclusively Stream Disney, Pixar, LucasFilm and Marvel Movies

Movies News Netflix

Come this September, Netflix will be holding a fairly large weapon against the backs of its streaming-wars competitors: Disney films. In addition to Disney’s many classics, this also includes Pixar, LucasFilm and Marvel movies.

Back in 2012, the streaming service struck a deal with Disney allowing Netflix exclusive streaming rights to Disney-owned films. At the time, the announcement came bundled with decades-old classics like Dumbo and the original animated Alice in Wonderland.

Now, in September, the true scope of this deal will kick in. Not only will Netflix subscribers have the ability to stream the latest Disney-owned movies, but movie networks like HBO and Starz, along with streaming competitors like Hulu and Amazon Prime, won’t have access at all. In other words, they just got stomped.

This bit of big news came buried at the end of a recent blog post made by Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. The post also revealed that subscribers can expect to see the Back to the Future and Lethal Weapon franchises appear in the coming months, alongside new movie choices like The Big Short, Brahman Naman and Tallulah in July.
