The Solo Trailer Recut to Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” Is Pure, Unadulterated Joy

Some genius recut the Solo trailer with Beastie Boys backing, and from the moment that glorious Lucasfilm logo appears on the screen and you hear the shred of guitars, all the way to the very last shot saying “Memorial Day” in that iconic Star Wars lettering, joy just runs through your veins while watching. Chris Gelagar of the podcast War Starts and Midnight did the world a huge favor by cutting together the trailer for the forthcoming Star Wars Story. The Beastie Boys song sets the mood of the trailer, reassuring audiences that this film is going to be complete fun even more effectively than the film’s actual teaser.

This trend follows after “Sabotage” was used in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, as well as in follow-up Star Trek Beyond. Although Solo itself all but certainly won’t feature the song, nevertheless, a young Han Solo is probably a very similar character to Chris Pine’s take on Captain Kirk, ensuring that audiences will be along for a very comical and entertaining ride. You can watch the actual Solo trailer here. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as the young pilot, along with Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton and Donald Glover.

Rock on and enjoy the recut trailer below … on repeat, if you must. It’s worth it.
