Rob Lowe Joins Super Troopers 2 as French-Canadian Mayor Guy Le Franc
Images via Broken Lizard, Alberto E. Rodriguez/GettyA number of cult comedies have been given second lives in recent years. The rise of sequels to films like Wet Hot American Summer and even Anchorman have increased demand for sequels to other early-2000s comedies. Super Troopers 2 is a part of that trend, thanks to a tremendously successful crowdfunding campaign. Now, the sequel has added a true-blue movie star to its cast in the form of Rob Lowe, Deadline reports.
Lowe will join the film as Guy Le Franc, a Québécois mayor and former hockey player who is said to have a major role in the sequel. Lowe joins the film following his Comedy Central roast, which, most seemed to agree, was really just a roast of Ann Coulter.
Fox Searchlight will distribute Super Troopers 2 when it eventually sees the light of day, which will hopefully be fairly soon. We’re not sure how much longer we can wait to see Lowe in that wig. If we’re lucky, he might even learn how to play hockey for the part.
