Mother of God.
It’s been a long 16 years, but our favorite Vermont state troopers are returning to the big screen. Brought to you by the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, Super Troopers 2 is a sequel to the 2001 cult comedy, following the hijinx of some prank-happy highway patrolmen.
Judging from this short, one-minute trailer, these characters haven’t changed one bit, with the so-called “super troopers” jokingly plotting to shave Rabbit’s (Erik Stolhanske) pubic hair and ordering ill-fitting pants for Farva (Kevin Heffernan). The trailer might make one wonder if any time has passed in between the two movies, as Rabbit is still considered to be a rookie at this point. Not much about the plot is revealed, other than a Canadian mountie element of it, with characters wearing the red uniforms. With Broken Lizard’s background in sketch comedy, expect this sequel to be episodic in nature, not unlike the first movie.
As the trailer so subtly reminds you multiple times, Super Troopers 2 hits theaters on April 20, 2018. You know, the weed day. Check out the trailer for yourself right meow, embedded above.
