Robert Pattinson Is Officially the Batman

Mission accomplished, everybody: Robert Pattinson is officially the Batman. Variety reports that RBats (formerly known as RPats) inked a deal with Warner Bros. on Friday morning, which followed the earlier news from Deadline that Battinson had finally won the studio’s favor and only needed to finalize the contract’s details.

Pattinson has been in the running to play Bruce Wayne for some time, facing off against only X-Men’s Beast, Nicholas Hoult. The two were called in for screen tests recently, during which we can only imagine Pattinson simply had to show off his jawline to prove his worth.

As we’ve previously stated, we’re pretty excited about the prospect of Pattinson as the Bat. He’s starred in a major franchise before, sure, but he’s also got a particularly weird charisma, an energy that could lend itself to really nicely to a moody rendition of the Caped Crusader.

Matt Reeves, the mind behind the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy, is slated to write and direct The Batman. The superhero tentpole is set for a June 25, 2021, release.
