Watch Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts and More Try to Survive in Brutal First Trailer for Blumhouse’s The Hunt

If you mix The Purge and The Hunger Games together, you’d get The Hunt, and according to the film’s first trailer, you’ll also get plenty of blood and gore.

Out Sept. 27, the film follows 12 strangers who wake up in a field with no recollection of how or why they got there. Subsequently, the strangers figure out they’re being hunted by elites who prey on “normal folk” for sport. However, one of the hunted isn’t going to settle for death, and has planned to derail the game, the hunters and the woman behind it all.

GLOW star Betty Gilpin leads the star-studded cast as Crystal, the hunted stranger who’s turning the tables, while two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank plays the hard-edged elite who masterminded The Hunt. Otherwise, Emma Roberts (American Horror Story: 1984), Justin Hartley (This Is Us), Glenn Howerton (A.P. Bio), Ike Barinholtz (Suicide Squad), Ethan Suplee (Santa Clarita Diet) and Amy Madigan (Gone Baby Gone) all co-star in the film.

The film was written by Nick Cuse (Watchmen) and Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers), and is directed by Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, Compliance). Blumhouse’s Jason Blum (Halloween, Get Out) produced the film alongside Lindelof. Zobel, Cuse and Steven R. Molen (The First Purge) executive produced the film.
