Here’s Our First Look at Alicia Vikander’s Lara Croft in Tomb Raider

2018’s Tomb Raider reboot has apparently entered production, as we’ve now gotten our first look at star Alicia Vikander’s (Ex Machina, The Light Between Oceans) take on Lara Croft.

The on-set action shots come by way of Twitter fan page @VikanderOnline. They show the star dressed exactly the same as the Lara Croft from Crystal Dynamics’ 2013 videogame reboot, further bolstering rumors that Roar Uthag’s (The Wave) 2018 adaptation is taking direct inspiration from its interactive counterpart of four years past.

We recently reported that Dominic West was cast to play Lara’s father, Lord Richard Croft, and it’s been known for some time that Walton Goggins would be tackling the role of the film’s villain (named Mathias, assuming the game’s apparent inspiration remains consistent).

Almost two weeks ago, Tomb Raider publisher Square Enix revealed a partnership with Marvel, announcing that Crystal Dynamics and Deus Ex dev Eidos Montreal would be co-developing a new Avengers game. No mention was made of the next entry in the Tomb Raider series, though a leaked logo (spotted by a Reddit user on a Montreal subway, via Kotaku) last year suggested Shadow of the Tomb Raider to be the next game’s title.

As of now, Uthag’s 2018 reboot is scheduled for release on March 16, 2018. Take a look at Vikander’s Lara Croft in the set photos below.
