Allen Tate of San Fermin Shares New Single, “When Did I Get Like This”

Allen Tate, lead vocalist of San Fermin, has released “When Did I Get Like This,” the first single from his forthcoming solo album In The Waves.

The track is a buzzy, deceptively upbeat song. The chipper synth line and peppy drumbeat are no match for Tate’s deeply felt baritone, which casts the whole thing in a sort of shadow. It’s a far cry from the horn-drenched forestry of San Fermin’s songcraft, and the cityscape featured in the video is fitting—it feels more bustling and busy than the work we know Tate for.

Tate kicked off a brief East Coast tour with an appearance at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on Tuesday night, and will continue for the remainder of September. Find those dates below.
