Alvvays Share Shimmering “Plimsoll Punks,” Third Single Off Antisocialites

Third time’s the charm: Alvvays have shared “Plimsoll Punks,” new single number three from their forthcoming sophomore album. Antisocialites is due out Sept. 8 via Polyvinyl.

“Plimsoll Punks” joins “In Undertow” and “Dreams Tonite” in spelling out a stellar sophomore effort in the offing from Alvvays. Impossibly bright, effects-heavy guitar lines swirl around Molly Rankin’s breathy and beautiful vocals, combining to create an intoxicating whole. The Toronto indie-rockers shared their new song on Twitter earlier, labelled “pop as pejorative,” while a press release describes the track as “the band’s answer to Television Personalities’ ‘Part-Time Punks’ and a winking surf opus indictment of the self-righteous who intend to condescend.”
