Bon Iver Announces New EP, Releases “S P E Y S I D E”
STABLE is out 10/18 via Jagjaguwar
Photo by Erinn SpringerEarlier this summer, Justin Vernon returned to the public eye when he appeared at a Kamala Harris rally and performed “The Battle Cry of Freedom.” Today, Vernon announced SABLE, an upcoming three-song EP that he will release through his Bon Iver project. Arriving October 18 via Jagjaguwar, SABLE is the first Bon Iver record since 2019, and the EP finds Vernon returning to the bare-bones roots of the project’s origins, before it was a fully-realized band. New single “S P E Y S I D E” arrives like an apology; “I know now that I can’t make good, how I wish I could,” Vernon sings. The song, composed in 2021, represents a period of creative reset and breakthrough chronicled between 2020 and 2023, after the release of i,i the previous year. These songs, which include “THINGS BEHIND THINGS BEHIND THINGS” and “AWARDS SEASON,” celebrate an outlet growing from one voice to many, and Vernon worked with Jim-E Stack and Rob Moose to bring them to fruition.
