Carly Rae Jepsen has been teasing something for the past couple weeks with a series of cryptically-captioned photos marked with specific locations, dates, and times. Today, the Canadian pop star announced a double album titled Day and Night, out September 18 on Interscope.
The 24-song tracklist for Day and Night will be divided into two distinct sides. Side A (“Day”) will feature a sound that Jepsen describes as “organic and raw, with live instrumentation and hints of ’70s-inspired psychedelic pop,” while its “Night” counterpart is “exploratory and intense, shifting into a sleek, synth-driven world of dance pop.” The lead single, “On Wires,” drops this Friday.
Day and Night is Jepsen’s first album since 2023’s The Loveliest Time, a sister album to 2022’s The Loneliest Time. Last summer, she celebrated the 10th anniversary of her critical hit record Emotion with the release of a deluxe edition and a one-night anniversary show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. She has also been working with Lena Dunham to develop a stage musical adaptation of the 1999 rom com 10 Things I Hate About You. She is set to headline All Things Go festival in New York this fall with Lola Young, Zara Larsson, and Brandi Carlisle.
