Listen to Cherry Glazerr’s “Daddi,” First Single from New Album

Cherry Glazerr have shared “Daddi,” the first single from their forthcoming album Stuffed & Ready, out Feb. 1, 2019, on Secretly Canadian. The record will be the band’s fourth, and their second through Secretly Canadian.

Frontwoman Clementine Creevy said in a statement that Stuffed & Ready is more introspective than the bombastic Apocalipstick: “With Apocalipstick, I was an over-confident teenager trying to solve the world’s problems. With Stuffed & Ready, I’m a much more weary and perhaps a more cynical woman who believes you need to figure your own self out first.”

“Daddi” certainly feels more more restrained than the band’s previous work. Gentle arpeggios and skittering drum tracks make for a shakier experience than previous garage-bangers like “Told You I’d Be With the Guys.” At the same time, Creevy seems more comfortable playing with structure and style, switching between fast and slow, loud and quiet however she pleases. “Don’t hold my hand,” goes the chorus. It feels like that request could be pointed as much at Creevy herself as anyone else.
