Watch Coldplay’s “Crawling” Tribute to Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington
Photo by Gareth Cattermole/GettyWhile kicking off their North American tour, Coldplay paid tribute to Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who died last month at the age of 41. During a Coldplay show in East Rutherford, N.J., last night, frontman Chris Martin took to the piano to perform a solo cover of Linkin Park’s “Crawling” and dedicated the performance to “anyone who’s missing someone.” Martin had to restart the song after flubbing the opening, conscious that people like us would be watching it on YouTube. Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda later acknowledged the “beautiful” tribute in an Instagram post.
Martin is hardly the only artist to pay tribute to Bennington. Run the Jewels;, Kiiara and Stone Temple Pilots have all offered heartfelt tributes to the frontman. Watch Martin’s performance of “Crawling” above and read Talinda Bennington’s moving statement on her husband’s death here.
