Watch Courtney Barnett Perform “Charity” on Kimmel

Courtney Barnett delivers hard rock performances in the most relaxed way. On Thursday, she stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to play “Charity” and “Need A Little Time,” two tracks from her recent album Tell Me How You Really Feel. Shredding and peddling for a large crowd (thanks to the show’s ongoing “Mercedes-Benz Concert Series”), she appeared with the same ease one might display while getting coffee or going to the store. She’s relaxed, but the Aussie rocker still means business. Watch both performances below.

On Tell Me How You Really Feel, Barnett trades clever summaries of mundanity for in-your-face, nonnegotiable protests and fight songs, all while maintaining the familiar wit of her previous two solo albums, The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas and Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, as well as her collaboration with Kurt Vile, Lotta Sea Lice. She’s as sharp as ever.

Barnett will resume touring in September, and you can find those dates here. We had the good fortune to catch her set at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees in May.

Again, you can watch Barnett perform on Kimmel below. Stick around for a Paste clip of Barnett playing “Elevator Operator” in Austin, Texas, circa 2015 further down.
